Most people spend their careers carefully managing what they say. Softening feedback so nobody feels criticized. Agreeing in meetings and disagreeing in private. Writing emails that say nothing clearly so nobody can be offended by anything specifically. It feels professional. It feels safe.

It also means the most important things rarely get said and the people who most need honest feedback rarely receive it.

Tamar Pross founded Citizen Cafe in Tel Aviv and has spent years observing the difference between cultures that prize diplomatic vagueness and cultures that prize direct honest communication. Her conclusion is that the discomfort of saying the true thing directly is almost always smaller than the accumulated cost of not saying it.

This conversation is about what changes when you stop managing how things land and start saying what you actually mean.
